Information about Nea Kios:
It
is located approximately 130km from Athens, and can be
reached :
1)
By car (see www.viamichelin.com
for specific directions),
2)
By public transport; airport express direct to central bus station
(KTEL), 2.90 euro. From the central bus station, 2hr coach
ride from Athens to Argos 7.70 euro (see www.ktel.org for
timetable), and finally, either a 10-minute bus or 5-minute
taxi ride to Nea Kios Plateia (town square) with the apartment
directly behind the church in the square, (don't be confused
by the church at the entrance of the town), or
3)
By prearranged local taxi (approx. 100 euro for 4 people directly
from the airport to the apartment).
It
is only 5km from Argos and Nafplio, which are both easily
accessible by local bus or taxi services, as are the sites
of Ancient Mycenae, the ancient theater of Epidaurus and other
archaeological places of interest. It offers a beach, several
restaurants and tavernas, all within easy walking distance.
In and around the village square there are various useful
shops such as bakery, supermarket, greengrocers,
pharmacy, butchers, convenience store, post office, police station,
photo shop, kiosk, public telephones (phone cards only), and
an ATM.
Local
sporting activities include tennis at the municipal tennis courts,
bring your own raquets.
Outstanding
rock climbing and some bouldering are available throughout the
region, locally these include Acronafplio, Neraki and Karathona

For
day trips, there are daily cruises to Hydra, Poros, Spetses
and Monemvassia, as well as trips to Athens, Mycenae, the ancient
theatre of Epidaurus, Delphi and ancient Olympia from the nearby
towns of Nafplio and Tolo.
